North Country Composites specializes in the development and manufacturing of composites, refractory, ceramics, and ceramic matrix composites (CMC) components. NCC is focused on transitioning novel ideas from the embryonic stage through commercial use. Below are the topics of current programs NCC are working to accomplish this.
NCC's CMC rotating detonation engine (RDE) and rocket engine components are enabling increased performance and lighter weight, significantly decreasing the vehicle cost to space.
NCC's high speed vehicle CMC engine flow paths, leading edges, and thermal protection systems (TPS) are enabling hypersonic flight.
SiC based CMCs are one of the few materials able to withstand the nuclear flux inside a reactor. In the longer term NCC replacement of metal components will result in much safer and more efficient nuclear power plants.
NCC is currently working with a brake OEM to qualify performance and cost of CMC motorcycle break rotors for commercial sale. We are working to segue this technology into the electric automobile market.
